The regatta centre has been a household name in the world of rowing and canoe sprint since 1972. The competition venue for rowing and canoe sprint, which was specially built for the XX Olympic Summer Games, is located six kilometres north of the Olympic Park, half on Munich city and half on Oberschleißheim municipal territory in the Dachauer Moos, and covers an area of 850,000 square metres.
