2026 stands for variety at Rotsee
Regatta München e.V. is delighted to be opening a new chapter in rowing together with LUCERNE REGATTA 2026. This year, the LUCERNE REGATTA, which will take place from 26 to 28 June 2026 on the picturesque Rotsee in Lucerne, will combine para sports, world-class rowing, youth development, popular sports and masters sports – setting a real example for diverse rowing events.
As part of the Masters Trophy presented by Euro Masters Regatta, 12 Masters mixed boats can compete in heats and finals on the Lake of Gods as part of the Swiss elite sporting event, completing on a 1,000-metre course.
Mario Gyr, President of the LUCERNE REGATTA Association, comments: “With these new formats, we cover the entire spectrum of rowing. With a view to the 2027 World Championships, we want to live the motto ‘Inspire Beyond’ today – as a sporting festival for everyone.”
Masters Trophy – A unique experience
The Masters Trophy will celebrate its premiere at the LUCERNE REGATTA, offering masters rowers the rare opportunity to compete on the same course as the world’s elite. “We are very proud and really looking forward to presenting the Euro Masters Regatta in such a unique setting and on such a grand scale,” states Oliver Bettzieche, President of Regatta München e.V. This cooperation with the LUCERNE REGATTA is a milestone for rowing and promises to be an unforgettable experience. “With this cooperation between the two renowned regatta organisations, we are sending a strong signal for innovation in rowing. And the Masters will experience a real premiere here, combining competitive and popular sport,” explains Bettzieche. The final races of the Masters Trophy will take place on Saturday, 28 June.
Rotsee Experience: World Cup atmosphere for popular sports
A special highlight is aimed at popular sports: the Rotsee Experience enables non-professional rowers to experience the World Cup at Rotsee up close. The format offers exclusive insights and special perspectives on the LUCERNE REGATTA.
World-class sport in a unique setting
The LUCERNE REGATTA is one of the world’s most traditional rowing events. For over 120 years, Lake Rotsee in Lucerne has been synonymous with fair competition, sporting highlights and a unique atmosphere. Around 800 participants from over 40 nations and 15,000 visitors are expected to attend this year’s event, which takes place from 26 to 28 June.
